The 40621 drilling team of Changcheng Drilling Company in the western region innovatively adopted the inflatable drilling leakage prevention technology and successfully completed the drilling work of Suide 14 well. Compared with adjacent wells, the drilling cycle was shortened by more than 50%, and the leakage prevention and water reduction effects were remarkable. This verified the feasibility of the inflatable drilling leakage prevention technology.


Since the beginning of this year, Changcheng Drilling Company has fully leveraged its technical advantages, conducted in-depth analysis of the causes of regional severe wellbore leakage in the Liujiagou Formation and Shikongfeng Formation of the Ordos Basin, and carried out research on the impact of different inflation parameters on measurement accuracy and mechanical drilling speed. This has provided data support for optimizing the inflation drilling technology template in the western regions of China.

To ensure the safety and efficiency of the construction, the Western Drilling Division of Great Wall Drilling Company jointly with relevant units formulated the "Inflatable Drilling Construction Technical Plan", making detailed arrangements in terms of process flow, tool preparation, and personnel operation. During the construction, the technicians adjusted the gas and liquid injection parameters based on the return fluid conditions, strictly implemented the "late stop of gas supply, early start of gas supply" measures, and ensured that the drill bit could drill smoothly in the state of slight leakage or no leakage. For multiple leakage layers, they adopted the technical measures of "inflatable medium + in-situ sealing + phased cleaning of the bottom of the well", achieving the target of 702.13 meters of drilling progress. They also conducted a special study on the problem of screw power fluctuation, increasing the efficiency of the screw by 15% compared to adjacent wells.
